The short version
We do not ask a customer for their name, email, phone number or anything else that identifies them. Scanning the QR code and posting a review requires no account with us and no personal details.
What we record when someone scans a QR code
- A device fingerprint. The IP address and browser type are combined and hashed into a short, irreversible string. We never store the raw IP address. It exists to stop one person generating dozens of reviews.
- The browser user agent— for example “iPhone, Safari”. Used to detect in-app browsers that break the flow.
- Timestamps and taps. When the page was opened, which category was chosen, whether the review was copied, and whether the customer continued to Google.
We do not record the review text a customer posts, we cannot see their Google account, and we have no way of knowing whether they posted at all — Google does not tell us.
Cookies
The customer review page sets no cookies and runs no advertising or third-party tracking. A single cookie is used on the administrator and business-owner login pages, purely to keep that person signed in.
What business owners see
Owners see totals: how many people scanned, how many continued to Google, how long it took, and which categories were chosen most. They cannot see individual customers, because we do not hold anything that identifies one.
How long we keep it
- Individual tap records — deleted after 90 days.
- Individual scan records — deleted after 180 days.
- Daily totals — kept, so a business keeps its long-term history.
Who else is involved
- Vercel — hosts the website.
- Supabase — hosts the database, in the Mumbai region.
- Google— the customer is sent to Google to post their review. What happens there is between the customer and Google, under Google's own privacy policy. We pass Google nothing about the customer.
We do not sell data, and we do not share it for advertising.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act you may ask what we hold about you and ask us to delete it. In practice we are unlikely to hold anything that identifies you. Message us on WhatsApp at +91 83292 39812 and we will respond.
Reviews are written by customers
RevUpsuggests wording. The customer chooses what they liked, can edit the text, and posts it themselves under their own Google account. We never post on anyone's behalf, and we never prevent a customer from reaching Google, whatever they thought of the business.
